Excerpt Adapted From The Journals Of Rhonda Estes...
Christmas Eve
December 24, 2009
Today was a day full of tears. A large declawed cat was tossed over the fence like a bag of trash. Garbage that someone didn't want anymore. A toy they were bored with and no longer needed...
His fur dangled from the barbed wire at the top of the fence and blood seeped from the small wound near his mouth. The group of shelter dogs that were out for their potty break attacked.
Our wonderful staff was able to secure the traumatized feline and get him to safety...
April is designated as Prevention For The Cruelty To Animals Month

I'm so glad that poor cat was saved ! People have their cats declawed and when the physical problems from the amputation of their toe ends, such as biting or messing outside the litter tray begin, they call the cat bad and throw him out.Just like happened to the cat you wrote about.
Declawing is a cruel uneccessary operation and must be banned in the USA as it is in our country and 37 others so far.
PLEASE help us by signing and passing on our petition:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Thank you Kattaddorra for bringing awareness to this problem. I will sign your petition and pass it on. Janine
I met this beautiful cat after he was rescued. He still had the scars from being thrown over the fence and his horrible mishap with the dogs, although it wasn't their fault. Thank God the cat was saved, thanks to the quick action of the good people at Madison County humane shelter society! I love all animals, although I am closer to cats. I have 2 of my own. Janine, thank you for writing this story. As you know, this incident is only a small part of the cruelty put on helpless animals. I also will sign the petition. Thanks.
We need more people like you in the world. I like what Einstein said about "You have to make the change you wish to see"
keep up the good work!
Best,
René
Thanks for the kind comments Rene. I like what Einstein said too, and, in part:"Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." Have a great day! Janine
Thank you, Mary Jo. I sent the link to you and will post it on my blog for others that want to sign. God Bless!
I have a similar blog entry, I am so glad people are spreading the word! I also put the animal rescue site badge on my page recently, I click that button everyday! I recently was working with a russian blue cat who was declawed, it is so sad b/c he kept trying to use his claws (pulling his nails). He is a sweetheart.
Best,
Vanessa
Thank you Vanessa for your help too. That is so sad, that poor cat! It breaks my heart...Janine
